Roofing leads
Leads are the input.Appointments are the product.
A roofing lead is a starting point. A qualified appointment is what a contractor can actually sell against. This page explains where one becomes the other, and why buying more of the first rarely fixes the second.
Lead vs qualified appointment
Two different products, priced and measured differently.
The two are often sold under the same word. They are not the same thing on the calendar, on the P&L, or in the CRM.
| Roofing lead | Qualified appointment | |
|---|---|---|
| Unit of delivery | Contact record | Calendar appointment |
| Human qualification | Rarely, and after purchase | Live setter on every record before release |
| Ownership check | Form self report | Matched to property record |
| Territory control | Often shared or resold | Exclusive by ZIP |
| What you pay for | The contact | The attended meeting |
Where qualification happens
A lead becomes an appointment during the booking conversation.
Qualification is a live-agent step on the same booking call. A setter works a written worksheet against the homeowner's answers. If the worksheet does not pass, the record is held and does not reach internal QA release. The full workflow has its own canonical page.
Operational evidence
The worksheet a live agent completes on the call.
Every field maps to a criterion in the Standard. Any HOLD stops the record from moving forward until it is cleared or replaced.

Why "more leads" rarely fixes show rate
A show-rate problem is a qualification problem.
When show rate is soft, the instinct is to buy more leads. More volume through the same funnel produces more contacts and the same conversion. The number of appointments that clear the Standard does not move, because the qualification pass that would have caught the problem was never run.
Moving qualification forward, before the appointment is written, fixes the economics of the funnel from the other end. Fewer records reach the calendar, and more of them turn into attended meetings.
